LAKE WALES – Volunteers with the Lake Wales Museum and Cultural Center are almost 60 percent finished with restoring the railroad caboose on museum property that has fallen on disrepair and not been open to the public for years.

The restoration project is one of several projects being implemented based on a five-year plan adopted by the Lake Wales Museum Association in 2016. Museum officials are preparing for a traveling Smithsonian exhibit sometime in September.
