BARTOW – The Community Redevelopment Agency found themselves stuck in a tough place at their regular meeting last week: decide whether or not to provide the Economic Development Agency $45,000, despite the fact they missed the deadline for funding, a funding they told the CRA two years ago it wouldn’t need.
The Bartow EDC was formed two years ago; and to kick it off, the City Commission and the CRA each gave the agency $45,000 in its first two years to get it going. After that, the EDC’s plan was to get money from the members of the 18-member board to fund it. That hasn’t worked out, and director Rob Clancey appeared before the board asking for a third year of the funding. The City Commission has budgeted $45,000 for its upcoming budget.
