LAKE WALES – Members of the Lake Wales Charter School Board of Trustees have repeatedly said their charter schools are public schools, but it could be perceived that their decisions keep refuting that concept.

At a board work session Jan. 22, LWCS Chief Financial Officer Brian Fisher gave the board a financial report that documented how the charter school board lobbied a state legislator for help recovering from Hurricane Irma instead of applying for help through FEMA like every other county public school administration.
