Black Friday sales starting to lose pallor

Some retailers opened much earlier than 6 p,m., Thanksgiving day, at which time many major retailers began Black Friday sales.

It appears as if the novelty of milling about waiting for retailers to open their doors immediately following Thanksgiving is losing momentum; perhaps it finally has run out of steam.

What began as an opportunity to snag bargains, especially electronics, TVs, cellphones, video games, and toys — provided one was willing to wait outside, sometimes in less than good weather and temperatures until some ungodly hour, often midnight — no longer is a must-do activity.
