Kelley Buick GMC was one of only 308 dealerships nationwide — among more than 4,500 dealerships — to receive not one but two significant recognitions.
“Today, Kelly Buick GMC is being recognized by General Motors as one of its Mark of Excellence Dealer awards,” said John Wells, the area manager for the Orlando-Polk County region. Wells made the announcement Wednesday, during a presentation to Russell Hernandez, the general manager and partner of the dealership, and J.C. Martin, the business’ commercial manager.
“This is the first time we have won both awards,” said Martin, who said this is not the first time the dealership has earned this honor. The Mark of Excellence award was presented three years ago for Kelley Buick GMC’s Buick division. In addition, this year’s dual awards is that garnered by Derrick Kelley in his first full year as the general dealership principal owner; Kelley was not able to be present at the time the plaques were handed out by Wells.
In order to win this prestigious, top level award, a dealership has to exceed benchmarks in every department, from sales, customer service satisfaction and training of personnel, among other factors.
As much as the Mark of Excellence awards are appreciated, there is something else equally appreciated, indeed, perhaps more cherished.
Kelley Buick GMC is an active participant in the community, said Hernandez, who has been a friend and associate with Kelley more than 20 years. This year, for example, through a challenge, it matched donations made to the Polk County Youth Fair in the amount of $34,500. However, that is not the only not-for-profit and/or activity with which it is involved.
“The list is long,” said Hernandez. “Me and Derrick both believe in giving back to the community. It is well worth it.”
