Tax season is upon us again and we want to encourage you to use caution when you file your taxes. In a world where technology is advancing and identity theft is on the rise, citizens need to take all necessary precautions and recognize scams.
Last year the Polk County Sheriff’s Office saw an increase in telephone scams in Polk County where the caller claims to work for the IRS and demands payment of taxes owed. Remember, the IRS never makes phone calls or sends email about taxes- they only communicate via U.S. Postal Service.
