It is that time again. The Friends of the Library will be hosting their annual luncheon at the Bartow Public Library on Saturday, March 22.
Lunch will start at noon but the doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The program this year will be by Lloyd Harris, “A Photographic History of Bartow - Part 2.” This will include all new material not in his current book.
Tickets must be reserved no later than Thursday, March 20. Tickets are $5 each and include lunch and the program. Lunch will be chicken and dumplings with salad and homemade sweet breads. Door prizes will be awarded at the end of the program.
You can call the Bartow Public Library for a reservation.
Next Saturday we will also be having Paws to Read with Charlie. He will be in our Children’s Area from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for children to come and read to him. When they read, they receive a free book.
The Polk County School Board, has been going through an extensive review process over the past several months to select new math textbooks for the middle schools and the high schools. Now that they have completed the process, we have three carts of nearly new math textbooks including algebra and precalculus that were not selected. While these won’t be the exact books used in our schools curriculum, they will have much of the same information and could be very useful especially to those who home school.
The Polk County School Board have left these extra textbooks to our disposal and we are offering them free to good homes. First come, first served. Contact the library at 863-534-0131 if you want more information. The deadline to claim these books is April 1.
