Our Pamplin Art Gallery has a new display. Art students from Union Academy, under the direction of Ms. Beverly Williams, have some of their many talents on display. While the display will be here for a month, you have a special opportunity to view the art and meet some of the artists from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, April 10. We will be having a special reception in their honor. All are invited to attend.
The Bartow Public Library is pleased to announce a new program coming to the library. Local resident of Bartow, Ted Wright teaches at Bartow High/IB and has traveled the world. He takes his experiences and then helps integrate them in his history classroom. We are pleased that he will be coming in at 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, to share on his recent travels to Iran. If you have ever been interested in cultures abroad or want to learn more about Iran, we welcome you to join us. He will offer insight on the people living there and the interactions he faced on a daily basis. This is definitely not a place most Americans have visited or thought to travel to, so why not expand your horizons and learn more?
Next Saturday, April 12 students are invited to participate in a free, full-length, proctored SAT practice test. It is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will receive a detailed score report outlining your strengths and weaknesses. You can register at the library or online at www.PrincetonReview.com/Events.
GED classes will be returning the end of April. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 we will resume our very popular class. We have adapted the class to match the new computer requirements. Students will be able to have computer help in addition to the English and math tutoring. Books will be available to purchase without CD at $15 and with a CD they are $20. A book does not need to be purchased before the first class. April 30th is just a GED Intro in which a schedule will be worked out. If you are interested in signing up for this class, please call 534-0131.
