Union Academy's Peter Johnson with his wife, Kara, and daughter Abby enjoy the artwork from students at the school where Johnson teaches. “It's great to see this side of some of my students,” he said as he admired the paintings.

Happy Easter Weekend!

The Library is open is open today for our normal Saturday hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Just to note, the Azalea Festival going on in Mosaic Park across the street will make getting to us a bit trickier. South Broadway will be closed to traffic and patrons will have to take the detour of Floral and then cut through the Civic Center parking lot.

Need a play date for your little ones? Story times will be here at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Our numbers have been growing recently and we are very excited about that.

If you have a 9-12 year old, you really should consider joining our revamped Family Book Discussion. This used to only be open to girls and their mothers, but now the whole family can be included. Each month a book is selected and will be given to families for free, courtesy of the Friends of the Bartow Public Library. The book discussion always takes place on the last Thursday of each month.

Next Saturday will be the return of Paws to Read. Join us from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the children’s department and read to Charlie.

Time is almost up for your chance to see the Union Academy Art Display upstairs in our Pamplin Gallery. Be sure to stop in this week and see the amazing talents these Bartow students have.

GED classes will be returning the end of April. At 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, we will resume our very popular class. We have adapted the class to match the new computer requirements. Students will be able to have computer help in addition to the English and math tutoring.

Books will be available to purchase without CD at $15 and with a CD they are $20. A book does not need to be purchased before the first class. April 30 is just a GED Intro in which a schedule will be worked out. If you are interested in signing up for this class, please call 863-534-0131.
