Some of Jackson’s arrows missed target

I wish to respond to “City Commissioner Adrian Jackson’s Letter to the Editor” entitled “It Did Not Have to Happen.” I totally agree with the title and much of the content.

My wife and I moved to Bartow in June of 1969, by choice and love it passionately. We have raised our children and welcomed our grandchildren into the world here. It has all been by choice and the grace of God.

Commissioner Jackson’s contention that “it did not have to happen,” was dead on target. However; I feel some of his other arrows were sorely misdirected.

No! It did not need to be broadcast all over the country, although, many of our best have fought and died for the freedom to do so.

I did not participate in the international broadcasting and do not enjoy continuing it in a “Letter to the Editor.”

I do intend to accept Mr. Jackson’s invitation to speak with him as soon as I arrive home from Pennsylvania which was my destination by plane when I read his letter.

I do pray and have hope that we can review and improve some of the services that I feel are lacking luster in our beloved hometown.

Michael Goff
