With the election just a week away, I am reminded of a saying that always appears near election time in the Kiwanis bulletin saying, “It is not only your right, but your duty to vote.” The citizens of Bartow have four candidates from which to choose. I believe the city will have some tough challenges to face in the next year or so. Even though we are being told that the economy is much better and more people are getting back to work, there is still a lot that needs to be done. This is the reason that on April 1 we need to elect Joe DeLegge as City Commissioner, for Seat 4. I feel we need a person who has experience to face whatever comes before the commission. He is dedicated to the City of Bartow and will serve the citizens of Bartow with integrity, fairness, experience, and honesty. I served as City Commissioner when Joe was City Manager. His door was always open to employees and citizens to help in any way that he could. Just a few of the things that he was able to do while he was serving our city was to establish the new centralized water treatment plan, new library, the stage at Mosaic Park, new gym at Carver, new automated sanitation trucks and the employee pension plan. Those who worked with him realized his knowledge in City Government was second to none. We need Joe DeLegge with his knowledge to guide us through the next few years. This is why I am supporting Joe DeLegge for the City Commission Seat 4 and hope you will too.
