Mr. Marshall Allen True, 80, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, of heart failure.
Mr. True was born in Obion County, Tenn., on Nov. 8, 1932, and he has been a long-time resident of Fort Meade, Fla., since 1970.
He was a building contractor and a member of First Church of God, Fort Meade. Mr. True was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, a member of the Fort Meade Masonic Lodge #160 F&AM where he was a 32nd degree Mason, Fort Meade Order of the Eastern Star #47, Fort Meade American Legion Post #23, former member of the Fort Meade Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian Award.
Mr. True was preceded in death by his son, Michael Allen True; father, John Thomas True; mother, Esther V. Patterson True Craig; stepfather, E.H. Craig; sister, Lucille Tinin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jewel True, Fort Meade; son, Donnie True and wife Teresa, Fort Meade; daughters, Deborah Shepard and husband David, Tallahassee, Fla. and Beth True Boyer, Fort Meade, Fla.; five grandchildren, Joshua True, Jennifer True, Sarah True Snodgrass, Rebecca True and Sarah Shepard; one great-grandchild, Lily Espino.
Visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. , Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade.
Memorial service follows at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenny Slay and Travis Risner officiating.
