Frederick Harris Conner, 69, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at his residence in Bartow of heart failure.

Born July 25, 1944, in Bartow, Mr. Conner was a resident of Atlanta, Ga. ,for many years before moving back to Bartow. He was a graduate of Summerlin Institute and attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Harris was a part-owner of a tire and automotive repair business in Atlanta for many years. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. He was an avid race car enthusiast and owned numerous race cars through the years. Harris loved to fish. He loved animals and was known to provide meals for all the neighborhood cats.

Harris was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Lamar and Ruth Harris Conner.

He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Conner (Pat) of Decatur, Ga.; two brothers, Gerry Conner (Debbie) of Syracuse, Ind., and Loy Conner (Susan) of Bartow; and seven nieces.

A memorial service was Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at the Bartow First United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to PAWS Atlanta, (a no- kill rescue shelter for dogs & cats), 5287 Covington Hwy, Decatur, GA 30035.
