Donald Brown, Sr.
Mr. Donald Brown, Sr., 81, passed away at his home Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.
Mr. Brown was born Feb. 13, 1932, in Vicksburg, Miss., and has been a longtime resident of Fort Meade, Fla.
He retired as a maintenance mechanic from U.S. Agri-Chem after 34 years of faithful service.
Mr. Brown was a member of Lake Buffum Baptist Church, Fort Meade, where he served as a deacon and remained very active to serve where he was needed. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran, serving in the Korean War, member of the Fin & Feather Hunt and Fish Club, and a 1950 graduate of Redwood High School in Vicksburg.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by several of his brothers and sisters, and a brother-in-law, Melvin Griffith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dora Brown, Fort Meade; sons, Pat Brown and wife Penny, Frostproof, Barry Brown and wife, Cindy, Fort Meade, Everett “Bubba” Stagg and wife Monica, Wauchula, Fla.; daughter, Lynda Adlam and husband Tim, Fort Meade; brother, George Brown and wife Vera, Vicksburg, sisters, Dorothy Griffith, Grace Scott and husband, Joe, all of Vicksburg, 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E, Broadway, Fort Meade.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Lake Buffum Baptist Church, Fort Meade, with the Rev. Mike Patelli and the Rev. Kenny Slay officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
