Werner C. “Skeet” Fulton, 89, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at his residence in Winter Haven of heart failure.

He was born May 13, 1924, to Surgeon L. Fulton and Gladys Jones Fulton in Bartow.

He attended Auburn University before joining the U.S. Air Force, serving as a flight instructor until the end of World War II.

In 1946 he married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Jane Keen, Frostproof, and received his BS in Agricultural Economics at UF. He returned to Polk County and was employed at the Florida Citrus Experiment Station, Lake Alfred, before moving to Frostproof in 1949.

He started Fulton Grove Service Inc. in Alturas, the predecessor company to Fulton Cole Seed Co., a full service grove caretaking, seed harvesting, and fruit production organization.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Frostproof, serving in numerous leadership positions, and in later years, he and his wife also enjoyed years of service at First Presbyterian Church in Frostproof. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 95 and past president of the Frostproof Lions Club.

Some of his happiest days were spent raising quarter horses and participating in horse shows with his family. He also was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer, being a member of both Pinecrest and Lake Wales Country Clubs. His daughters will forever treasure the love he had for their mother, his wonderful sense of humor, and the unfailing devotion he had to all members of his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years , Betty Jane Fulton; his sister, Yvonne Fulton, Jacksonville; his three daughters, Deborah Keen Sizemore (Dr. Alan Sizemore), Winter Haven, Jan Fulton Crawford (Hugh Crawford), Bartow, and Lynn Fulton Aaron, Winter Haven. He is also survived by two granddaughters and four grandsons, JaLeeann Johnston (Jeremiah), Winter Haven, Lorilynn Cox (Adam), Naples, Claudius H. “Chip” Crawford III, Providence, R.I., W.A. “Drew” Crawford, Bartow, Preston A. Sizemore (Marie), Palm Beach Gardens, and Dr. B. Clay Sizemore (Marcy), Thomasville, GA; and seven great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 205 E. Stanford St., Bartow.

Funeral service is at 2 p.m. at the church.

Interment will be held at Silver Hill Cemetery, Frostproof.
