Mr. Amos Lee Skipper, 85, passed away at his home in Fort Meade on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, of heart failure.

Amos was born in Marianna, Fla., to A. B. and Lucy Skipper on November 20, 1928.

He was a member of the First Church of God, Fort Meade, and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Skipper was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, C. O. Skipper, Clinton Skipper and one sister, Callie Mae Oxendine.

Amos is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 59 years; daughter, Wanda Newman and husband, Vaciel, of Fort Meade; grandson, Christopher Newman of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Douglas Skipper of Margate, Fla.; sisters, Hattie Coppack of Winter Haven and Helen Hales of Auburndale, Fla.

Visitation was 1-3 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Hancock Funeral Home in Fort Meade.

Funeral service followed with Rev. Travis Risner officiating.

Interment is in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 2525 Drane Field Road, Suite 4, Lakeland, FL 33811.
