Mrs. Janet Davis, 84, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, in Winter Haven, Fla., of heart failure.
Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Fort Meade, Fla., where she remained a lifelong resident.
She was a loving mother and wife, and devoted herself to making a home for her family.
Mrs. Davis was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fort Meade, member of Fort Meade Garden Club, Fort Meade Historical Society, and she was a graduate of Fort Meade High School, class of 1948.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Richard H. “Dick” Davis; parents, Francis L. and Lillie Mae Lindsey Davis; brother, Thomas Jefferson Davis; half-brother, Marshall Seigler; brothers-in-law, William L. “Bill” Davis, Jr. and Joseph E. “Joe” Davis, Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Richard L. Davis and wife, Shelly, Fort Meade, Fla. and Robert P. “Sonny” Davis and wife Kimberly, Fort Meade, Fla.; sister-in-law, Audrey G. Davis, Fort Meade, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrew Davis, Michael Davis, Brandon Davis, and Trevor Davis; great-grandchildren, Kelsi Davis and Jacob Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at the First Presbyterian Church, 118 N. Pine Ave., Fort Meade.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Jack Taylor officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Meade.
