Quiet neighborhood scene of meth bust

Straws, pipes (used to ingest), a scale and bags of methamphetamine, as well as other drug paraphenalia were seized during a recent drug bust.


Methamphetine seized in a recent drug raid gets weighd at the Bartow Police Department on a certified scale.

At approximately 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, members of the Bartow Police Department Community Services Team, Detective Bureau and Charlie Squad executed a search warrant at 1980 De Las Flores Avenue in reference to narcotic sales. The warrant was obtained following a two month investigation by the Community Services Team.

During the search warrant execution, 23.6 grams of methamphetamine, a plethora of narcotic paraphernalia (baggies, spoons, straws, scales etc.) and $1,366 in cash were located and seized. The resident, identified as Jacqueline Anne Becker, 44, was later arrested and charged with:

• Trafficking in methamphetamine — First degree felony

• Possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell — Second degree felony

• Maintaining a dwelling for drug use — Misdemeanor first degree

• Possession of drug paraphernalia — Misdemeanor first degree

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office website, Becker was arrested May 1, 2009, in Haines City, for possession of methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphenalia.
