Alicia Ruiz, 13, an eighth grade student at Bartow Middle School does not run at the mouth. By her own admission she is not one for talking much. She’s much too shy.

Instead, she lets her actions do the talking, specifically running, especially cross country, and most recently she came in ninth place in a cross country competition held at Holloway Park in Lakeland on Oct. 29. Her time on the course that was approximately 3K in length was 11 minutes and 38 seconds; a full minute behind the winning time.
