Herbert Dixon Charity Golf Tournament tees off Saturday

The third annual Herbert Dixon Charity Golf Tournament, slated for Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Bartow Golf Course, 150 N. Idlewood Ave., is shaping up to be one of the largest ones since the tournament’s inception. Started seven years ago and sponsored by the Bartow Deacons and Stewards Alliance Inc. it was renamed in Dixon’s honor several years ago, according to Carver Young, one of the organizers.

“It’s an honor putting on an event such as this,” said Chris Banks, head professional at the golf course. Banks added that he had seen a higher number of people registering for the tournament named for Dixon continuing a climb realized each year.
