Bartow High School Jackets Kaitlyn Boswell and Cole Schmucker 2013 Student Angler Federation Florida High School State Champions will compete in the FLW Southern Conference Championship Lake Lanier Gainesville, Ga., on Oct. 12.
State champions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee will compete. The winning team is determined by the heaviest weight for a maximum of five bass. The winning team from each of the five conference championships advances to the 2014 High School Fishing National Championship for the chance to win a $10,000 scholarship.

Lakeland Junior Bassmasters wrapped up their regular season on Harris Chain with tensions high as several titles were on the line. Jackson Williams, in a final bid for Angler of the Year, won the 11-14 year old division with 11.56 pounds and big bass of 4.74 pounds, but was a pound short for the title, won by Roger Weigel. Sammy Barnes blew away the 15-18 year old division with a 13.18 pound bag and big bass of 4.62 pounds.

Lakeland Junior Bassmasters Roger Weigel and Luke Ferguson claimed Angler of the Year 2013 titles for their age divisions.
Weigel, winner of the 11-14 year old division, ended the year with 112.71 pounds. Ferguson, winner of the 15-18 year old division, finished with 138.06 pounds. This is Ferguson’s second Angler of the Year 2013 title, having won Bartow High School’s title for the second consecutive year.
