Lady Jackets prepare for district tournament

The Bartow High School Lady Jackets are ready for the 2014 Class 7A District 6 Tournament which will is scheduled Monday,April 14 through Thursday April 17 at Kathleen High School.

The Jackets will be striving for their 19th district championship and their fourth in a row.

At 5:30 p.m. Monday the number 4 seeded Lakeland Dreadnaughts will play the number 5 seeded Ridge Community Bolts and at 7:30 p.m. the number 3 seeded George Jenkins Eagles will play the number 6th seeded Kathleen Red Devils.

At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday number 2 seeded Haines City Hornets will face the Jenkins/Kathleen winner and at 7:30 p.m. it will be the number one seeded Bartow Yellow Jackets against the winner of the Lakeland/Ridge game.

The championship game is scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The winner of class 7A District six tournament will host the winner of Class 7A District 5 and the loser will travel to the winner of 7A district 5. District 5 is comprised of Celebration, Kissimmee Gateway, Harmony, Lake Nona, Kissimmee Liberty, Osceola and St Cloud. At presstime Bartow was ranked by Miracle sports at number one in Florida in class 7A

The Jackets are 19-5 this season and moved up to number 3 in the class 7A rankings behind first-ranked St Thomas Aquinas which is 20-2 and Harmony which is 20-2.

Bartow’s catcher Lexy Sims was nominated for Class 7A player of the year and Jackets pitcher Chelsea King was was selected to play in the state All Star game.
