Defying all odds, a brave boy fights back

Ben Jr. is active in the DeSoto County 4-H Citrus Club and enjoys events related to his hometown.

Ben keeps balance in his life, always a smile on his gentle face.

Benjamin Wiley Jr. is now a happy 6-year-old kindergartener in DeSoto County who has his doctors all over the world fascinated.

Being born with raw hands and feet, he spent the first three months of his life at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. Ben Jr. was the only case of epidermolysis bullosa, or EB, in 2011, and the first the hospital had treated since 2007.
