Blaze destroys local home

Charlotte County firefighters battled a house fire Monday afternoon in Port Charlotte near the North Port border. A neighbor called 911 at 2:30 p.m. to report the house was engulfed in flames. The State Fire Marshal's Office was called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

PORT CHARLOTTE — A local home was destroyed after becoming engulfed in flames Monday afternoon.
A neighbor called 911 at 2:30 p.m. to report flames coming from a house on the 400 block of Toana Avenue, near North Port. Charlotte County Fire/EMS arrived at 2:36 p.m. and had the fire under control within 12 minutes.
