A presentation focused on financing a new sheriff’s office/jail and fire station quickly turned into a lengthy discussion by the DeSoto Board of County Commissioners over paying for an architect’s report on cost estimates for rebuilding or remodeling Fire Station 1.
Jim Gollahan of Gollahan Financial Services gave the board several options for financing a new jail, which is expected to cost $25.5 million. Gollahan estimated that including current debt, the county would have yearly payments of approximately $3 million for the first eight years, and $2.3 million for the next 30 years.
