Joshua Longenecker, a junior at DeSoto County High School, took first place in the school’s science fair last week with his project to determine what electronic appliances affected his Internet wireless router the most. He concluded it was the microwave oven, and took home a blue ribbon for his display. Using a computer application that measures the interference, he found a cell phone is most likely to strengthen the router signal.

Joshua is planning to attend a culinary school after graduating. His favorite dish to prepare is Italian cuisine.
