Arcadia might soon be the proud owner of two new sanitation vehicles, as the City Council mulls a lease agreement that would significantly upgrade the city’s aging fleet.
The city had previously budgeted $110,000 to purchase two rear-loader sanitation boxes. However, Steve Underwood of the Sanitation Department said because of the age of the current vehicles and frequent breakdowns, resulting in reduced service to residents, he and Interim City Administrator Tom Slaughter believed leasing two new vehicles was in the city’s best interest.
