PCHS student faces assault, stalking charges

PORT CHARLOTTE — Mike Desjardins, director of student services for Charlotte County Public Schools, said there may be a growing number of reported bullying incidents in the schools, but it’s because more students are being educated about how serious the problem can be.

“They’re becoming more aware of it because of our programs,” he said. “And the support staff — anyone who comes into contact with kids — is trained on how to identify bullying. We make sure we have eyes and ears in the hallways, in the cafeterias, the bus ramps — the areas that bullying or harassment could take place.”
