ENGLEWOOD — A Port Charlotte man was sentenced to three years in prison followed by 25 years of probation for stealing more than $92,000 from a scholarship fund that was set up by Englewood Masonic Lodge 360 to benefit Lemon Bay High School students.
Michael Cripps, 60, turned himself in to authorities in July 2013 after the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest. He had been accused of stealing from the Englewood Masonic Family Trust scholarship since 2007. Cripps was a catechism instructor at the lodge.
