After a particularly festive December, when big increases in home sales and prices provided even more cause for holiday celebration, January numbers returned to Earth, while still showing a positive overall trend.
Closed sales for single-family homes fell from 323 in December to 251 last month, a 22 percent drop-off, according to the Punta Gorda-Port Charlotte-North Port Association of Realtors. For the same period, the median sales price for a single-family home dipped from $140,000 to $133,000, a 5 percent reduction.
