The DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a 10-year extension of its contract with Womack Sanitation Inc.
Although at least one commissioner and a local resident expressed concern the contract wasn’t being put out to bid, the board agreed the services Womack has provided to DeSoto County since its arrival 15 years ago have decreased the amount of illegal dumping occurring in the community. As part of the contract, Womack said it would not change its current rate of $165 per year, a rate that hasn’t changed in a decade.
