Following a workshop with DeSoto Memorial Hospital’s board of directors and administration, it looks likely the Board of County Commissioners will formally approve a 1/2-cent indigent care sales tax referendum on this year’s ballot.
If approved by voters, the tax would generate approximately $940,000 annually. County attorney Donald Conn clarified the money is earmarked for any facilities that provide indigent care in the county, but that it’s up to the commissioners to decide how the revenue should be divided.
