CHARLOTTE COUNTY — The Friends of Cape Haze group is preparing to file suit if recent changes made to Charlotte County’s land-use plan are adopted.
A draft of the revised Smart Charlotte 2050 document, sent last month to the state for review, strips the comprehensive plan of essential environmental protections, said Percy Angelo, a member of the Sierra Club’s Greater Charlotte Harbor Group. After failing to convince county officials not to remove or alter key provisions, the community group hired an attorney to mount a possible legal challenge.
