NORTH PORT — The city of North Port has been vigorously working on various tasks to prepare, plan and launch a water expansion pilot program. Some of these tasks include obtaining information, reviewing options and costs, and engaging the community by using a water demand analysis as a planning tool to reach out to unserved customers to see if they were interested in receiving city water services. The city received an overwhelming response from 5,745 people, who participated by completing questionnaires.
On April 29, Utilities staff and representatives from consultant Wade Trim presented the results of the water demand analysis to the City Commission at a workshop to see if they were interested in moving forward with a water expansion project. Commissioners directed staff to bring a recommended plan back to them at an upcoming meeting.
