When a Boeing 777 carrying nearly 300 people was shot down over Ukraine last week, local Ukrainians reacted with both horror and sympathy.
A surface-to-air missile was fired at Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 Thursday as it flew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, some 33,000 feet above the battlefields of eastern Ukraine, causing it to crash, The Associated Press reported. According to the AP, evidence points to pro-Russia rebels who control the region as the party responsible for the attack. None of the 298 passengers aboard survived.
