About 200 students and their parents lined up outside Peace River Elementary School much earlier than the school’s 8:55 a.m. start time Monday.

“The line was all the way around the corner,” said principal Jody Poulakis. “The parents come and want to meet the teacher again. And a lot of folks were just excited for the first day of school.”
