Right on cue, the weather is getting a little cooler. Soon, the familiar sound of bells ringing will fill the air and remind us that the Christmas season has begun.
The history behind the bell ringing started with the Red Kettles. In 1891, Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee was distraught because there were so many poor individuals in San Francisco. He wanted to provide them a free Christmas dinner, the problem was, how would he pay for the food.
