I’ve been a strong advocate of planting trees to increase the curb and overall appeal of your home. Many home improvements lose value over time due to deterioration and changing trends. But you can buy inexpensive trees in five-gallon buckets knowing that they will grow quickly under the Florida sun and rain. They attract birds, and can be planted strategically to provide shade and privacy.

Deb and I returned from a Thanksgiving outing to Georgia on Tuesday. As we turned onto our street, Deb let out an “OMG” that led me to believe our home had burned down. She stopped the car to process what she saw.
