Question: We currently own a large home and want to downsize. We found a home online that appears to be an ideal replacement for us. We have an appointment to see it with our Realtor in two days. We are in a position where we don’t need to sell our current home before buying the replacement home, but we will need a mortgage. Our Realtor wants us to get a pre-approval letter before our scheduled showing. I think that is putting the cart before the horse because we are not sure that this is the home we will buy. And because I’ve been the victim of identity theft in the past, I have placed a credit freeze with all three credit bureaus. So that will make it even more difficult. What would you recommend?
