You’ll need four eggs, ¾ cup sugar, and ½ tsp vanilla. Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon-colored, then beat in ¼ cup sugar and vanilla. In separate bowl, beat egg whites until almost stiff; beat in remaining ½ cup sugar. Fold yolks into whites with whisk, then add sifted dry ingredients: ¾ cup cake flour, ¼ tsp salt, and 1 teaspoon baking powder, folding in carefully.
