Two very dedicated nuns from St. Paul’s steered us into tutoring the Mexican workers who wanted to learn English. We began with enrolling in a basic Spanish course so we could better communicate and were then ready to meet our students. And what hard-workers they were! Because of their work schedule of dawn to dusk, with only days off when it rained or stormed, our classes (twice weekly) were in the evening. They were exhausted after their long day in the groves, but their determination never waned.
