Apples are our favorite fruit and a large bag of them is usually a regular part of our weekly grocery order; they are a frequent luncheon dessert. There are a large variety of apples from which to choose, but the crispy Galas from Michigan seem to best satisfy our appetites.
So, when I was looking for a special dessert for Sunday dinner, I checked out my apple offerings, and came up with one we hadn’t had for a while but always enjoyed — a simple to make (after the apples are peeled) treat: spicy apple bars.
