As the fog cleared, a brilliant sun took over the east horizon, enticing me into my mile-long morning exercise walk. Exiting the house, I paused before going down the steps, surveying the landscape, especially the pasture that borders our lot. It contains a variety of grazing cattle, but sometimes, visitors – three deer – join them.
No deer this morning, but there is a loud honking bird demanding attention. As it repeated its call, I smiled; it sounded like a mother trying to get her sleepy children out of the nest.
