Speeches are being re-edited as I type this, diplomas are waiting to be distributed, and mortar board caps will soon sail high into the air at the Turner Center. And there is a very large hurdle looming, ready to be cleared by DeSoto County’s High School Class of 2014 — graduation!
Spending a dozen years in the classroom plus kindergarten certainly provides one with a wealth of information and experience. Subjects of all kinds are presented for our mental absorption and to prepare us for life beyond adolescence. The mistake many a young person makes is thinking that by the time they graduate, they’ve learned all there is to learn. Not a chance. The appetite has just been whetted.
