Mosaic Fertilizer tops 2018’s big project list, spring public hearing planned

Mosaic build the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green on reclaimed mining property. Its golf is rated among the best in Florida.

Volumes of application data were filed by Mosaic in December 2016. The complete set is in the DeSoto County Library.

You hope for a little excitement into a new year.

In 2018, DeSoto County will enjoy plenty of that—expect rowdy public hearings sometime this spring for rezoning of farming land owned by the Mosaic phosphate mining company. Of the 18,200 acres Mosaic Fertilizer LLC has in west DeSoto, the Minnesota-based Fortune 500 firm is requesting that 14,000 acres currently classified as agricultural to be rezoned for mining.
