In 2018, DeSoto County will enjoy plenty of that—expect rowdy public hearings sometime this spring for rezoning of farming land owned by the Mosaic phosphate mining company. Of the 18,200 acres Mosaic Fertilizer LLC has in west DeSoto, the Minnesota-based Fortune 500 firm is requesting that 14,000 acres currently classified as agricultural to be rezoned for mining.
