PUNTA GORDA — A group of community leaders are mounting a movement to rename a historic neighborhood in Punta Gorda.

The newly formed Historic District Homeowners Association is proposing to rebrand Trabue Woods — removing the name from city correspondence, documents and signs — and changing it to Eastern Historic District. The move seeks to unify all three Historic Districts: National Register, Downtown Commercial and Trabue Woods.
