The DeSoto County School District is evaluating whether to start a new public school that would be open to children in grades K through 8 across the district, regardless of where in the county they live. Tentatively called the Lake Suzy Leadership Academy, the school would focus on STEAM subjects: science, technology, engineering, arts and math — plus aviation.
At the first of two public meetings held Tuesday night, School Superintendent Karyn Gary told the audience, “We are doing a feasibility study to see if there is enough interest in this proposed school.” She said it would serve up to 150 students.
