The DeSoto Board of County Commissioners received an initial estimate Tuesday on the costs of rehabbing the Fire Station 1 building.
Bob Taylor from Alliance Design Group in Punta Gorda said remodeling the building to meet current code would be more expensive than to tear it down and start from scratch. Remodeling would cost approximately $1.26 million, not including design fees. That amount includes an eye-opening $278,000 for electrical, and six-figure numbers for partial demolition, concrete and special construction.
