The DeSoto Board of County Commissioners learned Tuesday of nearly $2 million in additional funding made available through a previously restricted fund.
Administrative Services Director Linda Nipper told the board the county’s auditing firm alerted staff to the additional funding, saying $1.8 million that was being held in a restricted account by the state had been released in 2013 and was available for the county to use at its discretion. She recommended the board place $150,000 in the county’s contingency reserve fund, and the remainder in its committed reserves.
