Carol Diane Forbes, age 68, of Arcadia, Florida, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Carol was born Aug. 13, 1948, in Bradenton, Florida.
She lived in Arcadia for 65 years. Carol earned an Associate Degree in nursing and then earned her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked throughout her nursing career at various places: Hardee Manor, Wauchula, Florida; G. Pierce Wood Memorial Hospital, Arcadia; and DeSoto Manor (DeSoto Health and Rehab), Arcadia. Carol loved gardening, raising roses in particular, and was also a southern cooking expert. She loved music and dancing, doing the Boogie-Woogie. Carol was the caregiver for her mother until she passed away. Carol was also the caregiver for her grandchildren and other kids in the neighborhood. Carol was a member of Heritage Baptist church, Arcadia.
She is survived bytwo sons, James E. (Honey) Forbes, Green Cove Springs, and Michael L (Heejong) Forbes, Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Kimberly J. (Ashley) Forbes-McElroy, Flora, Illinois; two brothers, Thomas P. (Terri) Hughes, Green Cove Springs, and Michael (Stephanie) Goff, Ipswich, England; two sisters, Patty (Hugo) Santiago-Ramos, Arcadia, and Rebecca (Gil) Riordan, Sebring, Florida; nine grandchildren, Katrinka Williamson, Meghan Forbes, Marcus Forbes, Hannah Forbes, Lee Forbes, Lana Forbes, Alex Bilbrey, Sara Bilbrey, and T. J. Lawrence; and one great-grandchild, Lumina Rose Clayton. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lee and Edith Marian Singletary Goff.
Visitation will be conducted from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Bidell officiating. Burial will be in Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida.
